CAREGIVING FOR END OF LIFE

Caregiving for End of Life is for those caregivers who have unexpectedly had their lives disrupted by the call to caregiving. With a focus on caregiving for family and friends who are near end of life, there will be five workshops that will run approximately sixty minutes each:

1) The Caregiving Gap and Finding Help with Caregiving describes the global lack of caregiving support and how to find help for caregiving through U.S. government-based programs.

2) Planning for Caregiving discusses how to assist with Activities of Daily Living and the importance of creating a Caregiving Plan, Power of Attorney and Will.

3) Caregiving for the Elderly includes information on how falling adversely impacts the elderly, the importance of monitoring multiple medications, medical frailty as an indicator of end of life, and why hospitalization can be life threatening for senior citizens.

4) Caregiving for the Dying looks at the value of hospice care, the stages of dying, caring for the actively dying, grief support, and caregivers fears and misgivings around dying.

5) Helping People Die explores why someone would want to hasten their death, the legality of hastening death, and Medical Aid in Dying for the terminally ill.

Brian Ekeland is the author of the upcoming book, Caregiving for End of Life. Brian is an experienced caregiver who has practical experience with bedside care, hiring in-home caregivers, caring for someone with Alzheimer's and dementia, and making difficult rubber meets the road, end-of-life decisions for family members. He is a former award-winning IT Management consultant who provided international and domestic consulting for Fortune 500 firms and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Brian is also a psychic medium and has a consulting business where he provides workshops on caregiving, psychic/medium readings, past life regression hypnotherapy, and classes in remote viewing.
