At the age of 18, Peter left his New Jersey home with training in classical piano, his backpack and music books. Hitch-hiking across the U.S., logging 30,000 miles, sleeping on parks and beaches, he played music at restaurants and lounges for meals and tips, eventually landing in Boulder.  Influenced by contemporary jazz musicians, Peter began improvising on piano at clubs for 3-4 hours a night. He released his first album, Spirit in 1983, which drew national attention and invitations to play larger venues and major events sponsored by national figures like Robert Redford, Dan Fogleberg and John Denver. As his reputation grew, he scored 11 on- and off-Broadway productions and began to compose for movies and television. His music found it's way into countless programs including the 2000 and 2004 World Olympics, Good Morning America, Entertainment Tonight, Baywatch and 10 Questions for the Dalai Lama. His concerts have since taken him around the world including performances at Kennedy Center, Carnegie Hall, JFK Stadium in Washington DC and the United Nations in NYC where he received the prestigious United Nations Environmental Leadership Award.

In a thriving career spanning over three decades and going strong, Peter Kater has recorded over 70 albums resulting in the sales of millions of units, scoring over 100 television and film productions and has been the recipient of dozens of honors including 14 Grammy nominations and Grammy Award wins for his 2017 Dancing on Water recording and his 2019 Wings album.

In addition to his musical achievements, he is also the creator of a new Guided Breathwork Series, which he offers through immersive week-long music and Breathwork Retreats in Montana and Hawaii.

EXPERIENCE “PIANO READINGS” WITH PETER KATER

Sunday,  August 3rd, Lily Dale Auditorium, 1:00pm – 7:00pm

$400 per person

Have you ever wondered what a song would sound like that was composed just for you? Peter Kater, 2x Grammy Award-winning pianist and composer, invites you to experience a deeply personal, one-of-a-kind musical offering: his Piano Readings.

Here’s how it works:You’ll connect one on one privately with Peter for a 20-30 minute conversation about what’s present in your life — what’s on your mind, what’s working, what’s challenging, what’s in your heart. From this conversation, Peter will tap into the unique energy and emotions you bring, receiving a clear musical vision, chord changes, melody and tempo that will become the foundation of your very own “song.”

When it’s time to create, Peter will invite you to lie beneath his piano and Peter will improvise a deeply personal, emotive piece for you based on the exact chord, melody, and feeling he’s intuitively guided to play. The musical portion of the session lasts about 8-12 minutes, during which time Peter channels your unique energy into a beautiful, spontaneous composition.

The entire session will be professionally recorded, just as Peter does for his albums, and you’ll receive an MP3 or Hi-Res WAV file to listen to and reflect on, again and again.

Peter’s Piano Readings are an intimate, empathic experience, and he plays differently for each person, responding to the emotional energy in the room. It’s an experience of true connection through music, and many of the pieces he creates during these sessions have formed the basis for his Grammy-winning album Dancing on Water, which is a collection of similar personal “readings.”

Peter says it best: "I really love doing these and it’s an honor to share intimate space with you."

Book your Piano Reading session with Peter today and experience a song that’s uniquely yours.  Discounted to $400 per person for this unique weekend in Lily Dale.  The entire session takes about 40-45 minutes alone with Peter.
